Eone Diagnomics Genome Center Co., Ltd. (EDGC), one of the global genome companies, announced on 29th that it has been ISO-certified for Information Security Management System (ISO 27001) as well as Health Informatics Security System (ISO 27799) in the genome service field at the same time.

ISO 27001 as the most powerful certification in the information security field can be obtained by the companies that passed the strict scrutiny review on 14 management areas and 114 sub-areas associated with information security. ISO 27799 as the certification for health informatics security management specified for precision medicine is subject to legitimate and safe management of the most sensitive, personal health data including medical charts, prescription records, examination results, etc.

EDGC has recorded No. 1 in domestic sales of genome service for hospital and clinic and put its best effort to ensure security, integrity, and transparency of client data by having established artificial intelligence such as deep learning, machine learning, etc. for genome big data analysis since its early stage of business in dealing with highly sensitive medical consumer/client data. With acquisition of College of American Pathologists (CAP) certification (international certification for clinical laboratory management) and technology transfer, it has kept leading position as the No. one in Southeastern markets including Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc.

EDGC is the one and only genome service company that acquired two types of ISO certification at the same type within the country among medical corporations such as KT, NHN, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, etc., ranking with domestic and overseas large companies and organizations in the information security sector.

Sung Hoon Lee, the chief technology officer (CTO) of EDGC R&D, said that “Capacity of data analysis, utilization and management is the key in genome services including liquid biopsy, etc.” and added “Once again, EDGC has been verified for reliability of medical information security management at world-class level in terms of genome data protection that is the most valuable asset of EDGC, as it acquired ISO 27001 and ISO 27799 certifications at the same time”.

EDGC is leading the personally customized precision medicine industry for early diagnosis of cancer (e.g., liquid biopsy) and prevention of diseases based on genome big data analysis technology (business intelligence; BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) and has become to provide various partners such as private clients, hospitals, and institutions, etc. with genome services based on the more robust data management system.
