EDGC, a global company specializing in genome analysis, has recently announced that EDGC Inc. and its affiliated company Diagnomics developed ACMG 59 in collaboration with Fabric Genomics, an AI-based genome analysis data platform company, completed the CLIA certification and launched the service in the United States.

The ACMG59, a service which is approved by American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics(ACMG), is the first panel designed to provide secondary clinical diagnostic services officially when performing individual genome analysis in the US.

In principle, it is not possible to report clinical results that are unrelated to the primary purpose for the genetic testing. However, laboratories with ACMG59 service verification are able to provide clinical results during genetic testing, even if there were not any clinical analysis requests from patients.

Also, the ACMG59 can provide clinical reports about 59 genes to the patient or physician when performing clinical exome and genome sequencing tests.

The ACMG59 service will enable EDGC Inc and Diagnomics to provide secondary clinical diagnostic services that are useful for disease prevention and health care to patients after performing a genetic test.

"ACMG59 is an innovative service that finds a solution to the clinical practice of personal genetic information that has been a long debated topic in global. The secondary clinical diagnostic service based on personal genetic data is about to start so the launched ACMG59 is the most advanced technology even in the US. South Korea still has many restrictions on the clinical application of personal genome analysis services. When guidelines similar to those of the US are created, ACMG59 will be introduced to provide services that can greatly contribute to public health," Min Seob Lee, CEO of EDGC, announced.
